Barcelona is a city of art, of theatre, of culture, of football
and of "movida". It's a city that never sleeps - any time
a bar is closing at night, there is always another one opening,
to help you prolong your night until it's time to go for "chocolate
con churros" (the sweet Spanish equivalent to chips and curry
sauce)!
The city's location and reputation make it the favoured destination
for tourists, travellers, students and businesses from all over
the world, giving it a particularly cosmopolitan buzz. Besides the
heady atmosphere, the city is awash with history - you only have
to wander into the Gothic Quarter to stumble across an eclectic
array of architecture from times gone by, or head up into the Eixample
to see the impressive architecture of later years, dotted with the
crazy work of Barcelona's most famous son, Gaudí.
And where else could you walk from the city centre and your classes,
down the Ramblas, one of the most famous streets in the world, onto
the beach and straight into the warm water of the Mediterranean?
